Section A: Recreation Management
1. Identify the purpose of using a SWOT analysis to examine the effectiveness of a specific sports business
/organisation. Explain how the organisation is tied into interdependency networks.
2. Distinguish between the different approaches to Local Authority leisure provision of the Conservative and
Labour Governments in the 1990s. To what extent do Government policies reflect a wider ideology?
3. Outline the role of the Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR) and Sport England in the development of
sport in the United Kingdom. Indicate ways in which sport has been influenced by Central Government.
4. Define the term “social context” and explain how changes that occur in sport reflect wider changes taking place
in society. Illustrate your answer with reference to a mass-spectator sport.
