Each of you will be expected to develop your own topic and write a research report on said topic. Students have a great deal of flexibility with respect to choosing their topic—it can be directly or indirectly related to capitalism; it can speak to some idea/event related to one of the four general time periods covered in class (The Great Depression, Bretton Woods and the Oil Crisis, the 1980s/90s and Neoliberalism, the 2008 Crisis and Great Recession). The report should be written in the standard format of introduction, body and conclusion.
Instructions
Introduction: The introduction of your report should explain the topic you are writing about and why it represents an important part of the chose time period.
Body: The body of your report will elaborate on the chosen topic. Focus on explaining how the topic relates to its time period. If it is a specific event, you might discuss its causes and effects. If it is a more abstract idea, you might discuss how it was shaped and influenced by its time and the role it played in influencing the era. You are expected to use at least five relevant external sources.
