The act of phishing relies on fundamental flaws in human behavior and it is my hypothesis that a user’s age, gender, education level, and employment status could possibly contribute collectively or individually as a significant determinant to the success or deterrence of known malicious phishing attempts. A better understanding of any these correlations will allow us to suggest a basis for additional research. This research seeks to identify correlations between successful phishing attacks and demographics to increase awareness of variations such as training programs that can be tailored accordingly to audience demographics.
This project aims to ascertain those more likely to fall for phishing scams by understanding the demographics, psychology and sociology involved, as well as provide theories and educated observations to be used in further studies.
The goal is to determine an association between age, gender, education level, and employment status and the ability to recognize and evade phishing scams.
